Golf courses in Dornoch
Anyone who loves golf will have heard of the Royal Dornoch Golf Course. It’s an iconic course; ranked 5th best in the world, and Scotland’s numero uno by Golf Digest! To play a round at the Royal Dornoch is a golfer’s dream and it’s just five minutes from The Steading.
The links of the Royal Dornoch Golf Club are considered one of the great frontiers of golf. Remote landscapes, punctuated by pinewood forests and a windswept beach, make playing at Royal Dornoch both a challenge and an absolute pleasure. Royal Dornoch is open to non-members, as is its clubhouse, which serves excellent cuisine and a large selection of beverages.
The history of golf in Dornoch goes as far back as 1616, when the Royal Dornoch was established. Some claim its roots go back even earlier. What we are sure of is that everyone who comes to play here, leaves with the impression they have played one of the Top 5 courses in the world.
The Royal Dornoch is not the only golf course in the area. Nearby 18-hole Struie Course was ranked No. 50 in the best links courses of UK & Ireland by Golf Digest in 2011, again the course is just five minutes drive from The Steading. The green fee at Struie is reasonable and both course and clubhouse are open to non-members. It’s an ideal family golf day out, as it caters to the lower handicap.
Visitors can also play at Golspie, Tain and Bonar Bridge golf clubs making Dornoch the perfect destination for your Scottish golf holiday. When you book your stay at The Steading ask us to secure reservations at the golf clubs of your choice. We can also arrange a driver and car to take you to and from each course.
